Make HEBER SPRINGS BEAUTiFUL AGAIN

The Make Heber Springs Beautiful Again Commission (MHSBA) was founded to tackle a growing problem: the visible and cultural decline of our beloved downtown district. Once the vibrant center of community life, downtown Heber Springs has suffered from neglect, disinvestment, and a lack of unified support.

It is up to us. The Citizens.

To determine what the future of downtown Heber Springs will look like.

OUR Mission

With the city quietly defunding previous downtown revitalization programs, MHSBA emerged as an independent, nonprofit, volunteer-lead movement to restore, protect, and reimagine our downtown — not through politics or bureaucracy, but through people who care and are willing to make a change through small acts of kindness.

Vision

1. Beautification & Restoration (Long Term)
  • Repair sidewalks, signage, and storefronts

  • Increase pedestrian signage & crosswalk safety measures.

  • Lead mural painting, window washing, and lawn, and other maintenance volunteer work.

  • Organize monthly cleanup days for trash, overgrowth, and maintenance.

2. Reviving Community Life
  • Host family-friendly events and festivals to draw locals and visitors downtown

  • Offer business-friendly booths and live entertainment opportunities

  • Encourage year-round activity with seasonal and cultural celebrations

3. (GOVERNMENT-FREE) CREATE A Independent Local Business Support & MARKETING NETWORK
  • Launch an interactive downtown map and event calendar

  • Host monthly meetings with downtown business owners to understand community needs, and celebrate / support business owners that deserve a voice.

  • Build an ad-free community platform to connect citizens without relying on Facebook

  • Promote businesses via KFFB, The Lake, and our own outreach channels

4. Volunteer Action Network (Recruiting Volunteers Now!)
  • Mobilize residents for hands-on work: painting, trash cleanup, window washing, and more!

  • Invite civic groups, youth, and retirees to contribute time and pride

  • Highlight and celebrate the contributions of everyday citizens

  • Accept recurring donations and one-time gifts via MHSBA.org to fund our efforts to revitalize downtown and achieve our long term goals.

  • Sell merchandise (shirts, stickers, yard signs) to support projects and raise visibility for our historical downtown.

  • Partner with local businesses to sponsor initiatives and co-brand efforts

  What Makes MHSBA Different

  • Independent & Transparent – We’re not city-run or politically driven. Every dollar supports real, visible impact.

  • Action-Focused – No red tape. Just results. Volunteers get to work and make things happen.

  • Locally Rooted – This is about Heber Springs by Heber Springs, not distant agencies.

  • Culturally Driven – We’re restoring not just infrastructure, but our shared local pride.
